Uygur children in Urumchi's Red Flag Kindergarten were fed with
sugar-coated pills against poliomyelitis on March 1. Xinjiang Autonomous
Region will commence two rounds of poliomyelitis prevention events from
March 1st to the 3rd and from Apr. 1st to the 3rd by feeding pills
against polio to nearly one million children under four years old of
different ethnic groups in the region.

A bronze two-faced god-man head sculpture attracted attention of many
visitors on Feb. 27. "Southern Yangtze Region in the Shang Dynasty
(1765BC-1122BC) -- Exhibition of Masterpieces Excavated from Dayangzhou
Town in Jiangxi's Xingan County" jointly sponsored by the National Museum
of China and Jiangxi's culture department was held in Beijing's National
Museum of China from Feb. 18 to Feb. 28. This exhibition displays 179
pieces (groups) of cultural relics, among which 135 are bronze wares.

The long-unrepaired Beijing South Railway Station finds it hard to meet
the demand of development of Beijing's urban transportation. Therefore,
Beijing construction committee's key project division has broken ground
for the reconstruction and expansion project of the station on Feb. 20.
Upon completion of the project, the new Beijing South Railway Station
will realize convenient transfer among railway, metro, bus, taxi and
other urban transport facilities.

Booklets about general knowledge of law are sent to migrant workers in
Anhui province, on Feb. 14, 2006. From Feb. 13th to Feb. 14th, the legal
aid center of the Judicial Bureau and the Trade Unions of Anhui's Chuzhou
City commenced the "Action of Spring Breeze," an event aiming to promote
general knowledge of law among migrant workers and provide consulting
services, on Chuzhou's railway station square. Nearly 10,000 copies of
"manuals for people's convenience" on general knowledge of law issued by
the legal aid center were distributed to migrant workers to teach them
how to protect their legal rights.

A child gets a souvenir during a firecrackers exchange activity held in
Beijing on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006. Starting from Monday, Beijing
residents are not allowed to light firecrackers in an area that is within
the five ring roads in the city. Under this regulation, the Beijing
Firecrackers Municipal Office provide some souvenirs including the Five
Friendlies, 2008 Olympic mascots, to exchange the firecrackers that are
not lit within the specified time.
