Beijing Olympic medal design solicitation finished

Chinanews, Apr.11 - The Beijing Olympic medal design solicitation
activity has been finished recently. 179 valid candidate works have been
received, among which eight will be chosen for the second round of
selection. Finally, three will be sent to the Executive Council of the
Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) for
deliberation.
The solicitation activity started on Jan. 11th, 2006. In the past three
months, BOCOG has received 179 works from 25 mainland provinces,
autonomous regions and municipalities as well as Hong Kong, the US,
Germany, Australia, Hungary, Indonesia, Russia, Israel and Finland.
Candidate works also include some from medal designing experts of Sydney
Olympics.
The judge committee will choose eight works for the second round of
selection. In this stage, these eight candidate designs should submit a
model besides graphic designs in line with BOCOG requirements. The
committee will then select three of them for deliberation of the
Executive Council of BOCOG.
