Officers and soldiers at a frontier defense station in the Xinjiang
military area were unloading New Year goods from helicopters on January
17th. Situated in the south of the Altay Mountain and surrounded by
snow-capped mountains more than 1,000 meters above the sea level, the
frontier defense station is called the "isolated island in the sea of
snow." Every year, the Xinjiang military area will deliver New Year goods
like fresh fruits and vegetables via helicopters for officers and
soldiers in the station. Nearly 3 tons of New Year goods have been sent
to the station and the delivery is still in process.
