Gesture language becomes college curriculum

Shandong University's School of Nursing opened a special curriculum of
gesture language. At one of the classes on Dec. 2, sophomore students
were learning the gestures for "care for disabled persons" under the
direction of Ms. Li Jing from the art troupe of Jinan Disabled Persons'
Federation. The sign in the picture means "care for." According to
relevant authorities, Jinan has 80,000 hearing-impaired persons. These
people have serious problems when communicating with the medical staff
about their health status. Therefore, the School of Nursing and Jinan
Disabled Persons' Federation jointly opened a special curriculum on
gesture language to overcome the obstacles in communicating with the
disabled.
