Several engineers were inspecting the Chinese "Oriental Astronomy Guide"
after the anti-weathering processing with medicament infiltration on Oct.
22, in the Taohuajian (peach blossom gully) tourist resort in
Lianyungang, Jiangsu. The rock painting on Lianyungang's Jiangjun Cliff
(General Cliff) enjoys a history of more than 400 years and is 22 meters
in length from the south to the north and 15 meters in width from the
east to the west. It depicts various patterns such as people's faces,
beasts' faces, the meridian and constellations. As the site for ancient
Chinese Dongyi people, inventor of bow and arrow and ancient metallurgy
living in east China about 4,000 to 5,000 year ago, to watch the stars,
predict the future, and carry out totem worship, phallism and sacrificial
ceremonies, it is China's earliest stone inscription relics in the
Primitive Society.
